Aechmea fasciata ‘Primera’
Bromeliad-aechmea, silver vase
Originally from Brazil, Aechmea is a bromeliad of exotic beauty, with its mardated leaves of green with silvery gray. A. Fasciata ‘Primera’ is a cultivar that differs from the original species by not having thorns on the edge of the leaves. This makes this hybrid ideal to have at home, facilitating the treatment. Too much indirect light, protected from direct sun (tolerates weaker direct sun for a few hours)
We suggest frequent watering. These bromeliads form "urns" with leaves that, in their natural habitat, retain rainwater. Keep the urn filled (about 3cm), with rainwater, distilled or filtered. Water exchange can be done 1x/week to prevent water from becoming stagnant and bacteria or fungi from developing. The substrate should also be watered whenever it dwells completely.
Regularly trim dead leaves at ground level. These fetuses do not tolerate dry air, so it is advisable to spray them regularly with filtered water or place them on a plate with expanded clay and water. They love being in the bathroom :)
