Calathea Orbifolia

Calatea orbifolia

This species originating in South America has large, round, light green leaves with almost white stripes. Like the other calatheas, their leaves move throughout the day, depending on the amount of light. Don’t be alarmed if you hear ‘whispers’, plants make sounds when they move.

Light

Moderate to bright indirect light. If there is too much light, the leaves will tend to fall down (it may also be a sign of lack of water).

Watering

We suggest frequent watering. Water whenever the top 3cm of the ground is dry. Although you like moist land, do not leave the watering surplus at the bottom of the pot. It can lead to root rot. Be careful not to water too much during winter. The ideal is to use distilled, filtered or rain water.

Care

Clean the leaves periodically with a clean, damp cloth or sponge. It needs high humidity. Avoid drafts.
