Strelitzia
Giant Bird of paradise, Wild Banana
From South Africa, this is a large plant that can reach heights greater than six meters when planted in soil. Its large and long leaves give a fresh and tropical air to the environment and remind the leaves of banana trees, so there are also those who call giant banana tree to this species of starfish. The inflorescences take years to happen and have a shape similar to those of strelitzia reginae (the best known ones), but the flowers are white and the beak-shaped bracts are purple, almost black.
Strelitzia gosta de...
Direct sun or too much indirect light. Under direct sun its leaves tend to become lighter.
We suggest moderate watering. Allow the substrate to dry almost completely before weting again with plenty of water until the substrate becomes moist again. Never leave excess water from the watering at the bottom of the pot. During summer, pay more attention to the frequency of watering especially if you are outside.
Clean the leaves periodically with a clean, damp cloth or sponge. It is a very rustic plant and it is normal for the leaves to tear and that their ends are slightly burned as the leaves age, due to our mostly dry climate.
