Xanadu

Xanadu

Native to South America (mainly Brazil), this Araceae is a tropical treat. It has a habit of arbstivo growth, with bright leaves and cut green. It forms dense shrubs that look good in gardens in half-shade or in vases. It’s easy to take care of and the more mature it is, the more beautiful it gets. A curiosity is that xanadu was classified until early 2018 as a Philodendron, having then been ‘displaced’ with other phyllodendrons to the (almost) unpronounceable genus Thaumatophyllum.

Light

Too much indirect light. Tolerates well a few hours of weaker sun. Low light can lead to yellowing of the leaves by accumulation of water in the earth.

Watering

We suggest moderate watering. Allow the substrate to dry almost completely before weting again with plenty of water until the substrate becomes moist again. During the summer, pay more attention to the frequency of watering.

Care

Clean the leaves periodically with a clean, damp cloth or sponge. Or give 'baths' with shower water or hose to clean the leaves, especially during the summer. Yellowish edges can be a sign of excess water. Dark spots can be fungi by excess water on the ground or on the leaves.
